Welcome to Cordula’s Web Team’s blog.

You may have noticed that Cordula’s Web has become quite large, since its creation in 1997. As of this writing, it featured 1393 poems, 871 photos and a couple of stories and quotes. While most of the content has been carefully selected and published by Cordula’s Web Team, many visitors used our contact address to submit additional material every now and then, contributing further to its growth.

Needless to say, that our static pages based infrastructure was neither able to handle visitor feedback (i.e. comments) nor our own editing very well. Adding a poem meant (and currently still means) editing a couple of XML files, regenerating the HTML pages, and rsyncing with the web server. In 2006-2007, we’ve experimented with a public wiki, only to come to the conclusion that it was not such a good idea after all. The few active members who provided invaluable feedback were quickly overrun by self-registering spam bots, until we’ve had no other choice but to shut the wiki down to the general public.

This is our second attempt at getting visitors to participate in Cordula’s Web in a different way than just email, but in a way that we can steer in the direction we deem right for this site. The idea is to collect random on-topic thoughts in posts, which would eventually link to existing poems or new images etc, giving some context that most people are missing in this big collection. Some posts may be comments-enabled, though all comments will be moderated and only a select few may be published.

Only members of Cordula’s Web team will be able to post here, but everyone can submit comments (on the enabled blogs). If you’d like to submit a post similar in spirit to what we have here, you can always do so on our contact address.

    And now, let’s start blogging.
